Digitalisation Drive : GCB Launches ‘Recoded’ App

Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) PLC has elevated its digital banking capabilities by launching the 'Recoded App,' setting itself apart with unique features designed to enhance convenience and security in online banking for customers and all Ghanaians.

The GCB Managing Director, Kofi Adomakoh, introduced the app at the Accra International Conference Centre, highlighting its distinctive features. Users can easily create instant accounts with the GCB Mobile App, requiring only their Ghana Card and no initial deposit. The app offers flexible and secure sign-up options, allowing registration with Ghana Card, debit card, or Gmoney.

One groundbreaking feature is the ability to top up ECG Prepaid meters, addressing a common need. Beyond basic banking functions, the Recoded App facilitates bill payments, subscriptions, and fees for over 150 merchants. It boasts a user-friendly interface with self-service options, such as card management and statement requests.

The app enables secure generation of prepaid and virtual cards for ATM, POS, and online transactions, maintaining a compact size of less than 20MB, distinguishing it from other banking applications.

Adomakoh emphasized the commitment to revolutionizing digital banking, offering both convenience and robust security. The Recoded App allows customers to access accounts, transfer funds, pay bills, check balances, and more from smartphones or tablets.

The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison, commended GCB for innovation in digitizing the country's financial banking system. Despite economic adjustments and challenges like the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme, he acknowledged promising performance in the banking sector. He urged banks to be creative, and he congratulated GCB Bank for its efforts in serving various sectors and shareholders. GCB Bank is set to raise an additional GH¢1 billion to meet regulatory capital requirements and seize available opportunities.
