View the initial response from Guinness World Records regarding Afua Asantewaa's triumphant attempt to surpass the record for the longest sing-a-thon.

Afua Asantewaa Aduonum of Ghana completed her fifth day of singing in an attempt to beat the record for the longest singing marathon by an individual a few days prior.

She completed 126 hours, 52 minutes on Friday, December 29, 2023, at around 7 a.m., which is just over 21 hours longer than the current world record holder.

Indian singer Sunil Waghmare set the current record in March 2012 when he sung for 105 hours.

When Guinness World Records will officially recognize her as the new record holder is the one Ghanaian that many Ghanaians have been wondering about since her successful accomplishment.

Through her efforts, as well as the numerous replies made by Ghanaians beneath the various posts posted on the Guinness World Records official Facebook page, one journalist from Ghana named Abrantie Kwasi Gyamfi was able to elicit a response from the organization.

The body's reaction made it clear that Afua and her colleagues still had a long way to go before they could be considered authentic, by providing the necessary proof.

The entire Guinness World Records response is as follows:

The Ghana Tourism Authority and Joy Prime are organizing an all-white Thanksgiving celebration at the Akwaaba Village at 6 p.m. in her honor even before she receives the award.
