President Nana Akufo-Addo has said unequivocally that a major percentage of the Agenda 111 hospital projects will be completed in 2024, his final year in office.


President Akufo-Addo stated at the median Physicians and Surgeons Awards that his ambition is for Ghana to be the hub of outstanding medical care in West Africa by 2030.












"To date, 86 district hospitals, two regional psychiatric hospitals, and the western regional hospital are under construction and are at various stages of completion." The average completion rate of the 89 projects is 52%. Work on some of the sites is 70 to 80 percent complete.


"In addition to the building of these new health centres, my vision is to help make Ghana the centre of excellence of medical care in West Africa by 2030, Leveraging on Ghana's beneficial status as the most peaceful nation in the West Africa sub-region, a beacon of democracy and a land of opportunities."








President Akufo-Addo's government launched the Agenda 111 initiative, commonly known as the Ghana Health facilities initiative, to address deficiencies in healthcare facilities across the country. It calls for the building of 101 district hospitals, two mental hospitals, seven regional hospitals, and the refurbishment of the Accra mental Hospital.
